Day 8 - Santa Fe Experience Day - DAY OFF!!!!

We wake late... 08.00 (normally drivers meeting and load time). First priority is laundry (we are now very smelly with lots of dirty washing) Tim has arranged to get a  "fluff and fold" laundry at a local laundromat which Wendy takes advantage of. Both pairs of protective jeans are put in for washing. Wendy's are now falling off due to salads and limited eating and perhaps the cellulite vibration of the Electra Glide, and a belt has not been bought yet, so it is hoped that the washing will shrink them a bit. John is suffering, also with the vibration and has numb fingers and strained wrists. We apply Deep Heat in the hope that it will ease over the day off. We head out for breakfast to the next door burrito place with several other members of the group. Julie has an interesting breakfast of scrambled egg and chili... we stick to American scrambled eggs and bacon. After breakfast we have a slow leisurely walk around the town. Along the square Native Americans have come into town and have beautiful jewellery for sale. We begin to see that Santa Fe is a town of two sides and two wealths. Very different from the areas in Texas which we have just travelled through. We visit the Cathedral which has undergone several renovations since originally being built in 1600's. Then a slow walk around the town and we find a micro brewery overlooking the town square upstairs and sit with the local beer and a pizza watching the town go by.

About 16.00 we return to the hotel, collect laundry all beautifully fluffed and folded. There is a bonus in the laundry, a detachable bra strap which Wendy uses to elasticate her jeans and stop them falling down. We agree to meet in the lobby and wander out to an Italian recommended by Tim. Somehow how though we end up in the wrong one. But still an evening filled with good food, good company and lots of laughs. Everyone meets back at the hotel, but our usual early start means bedtime by 22.00

  1. A lovely, rambling day and the best way to actually get to know a place :)
